The protector is really waterproof. It is good that the sides for the mattress sides is made of thin net so the mattress still can breathe. Good

Washed it before use and the part facing upwards retained quite a bit of water inside the washing machine. So guess it's really waterproof. Fits nicely on is 25cm thick mattress, so there's room to spare for thicker ones. There's a bit of sound like lying on top of a plastic sheet, but only when you are trying to brush something off, e.g. lint. Otherwise hardly noticeable and it's a tradeoff for the waterproofing.
