"Ruji" the Indonesian word for 'round' and the Ruji is a hard-backed display rack which gets its title from the signature cylindrical spokes along its sides which are pushed through a series of holes drilled on the ends of each shelf.

This translates into sturdy, firm side walls of wooden rods, which, unlike other cheaper variations, aren't simply glued to each shelf for decorative purposes.

The teak furniture on FortyTwo.sg comes from Java, Indonesia ,where adept Javanese craftsmen skillfully fashion it out of timber from the surrounding lush plantations.

Like our other teak creations, the Ruji is firmly held together with traditional butt joints to retain the old school charm of the furniture. On top of that, the butt joints are further reinforced with epoxy resin and nailed in for extra security.

*Our teak furniture is handmade from natural teak hardwood. This means that each piece of teak furniture has its own character and no two pieces are exactly alike; the key attribute that sets teak apart from cheap, run of the mill furniture churned out from factory lines.

Unlike some other retailers, we do not paint teak. Painting is a commonly used underhand method to cover up substandard wood or workmanship in teak furniture.

Dimensions and colours of wood stains (based on wood age) may vary slightly from piece to piece, and they may display natural imperfections like small cracks and mild warping. These aren't faults – they are details that make each piece beautifully unique.

Care instructions
As this product is made of teak wood, the following surfaces should be treated with special care:

• Exterior and interior surfaces: Regularly dust furniture with an absorbent, lint-free cloth.
• Back panels: Avoid contact with water.
• Interior surfaces: Use a soft, damp cloth. Where needed, use a mild, alcohol-free soap that doesn't cause abrasion. Use a soft, dry cloth immediately to prevent residual moisture.
• Avoid placing your furniture in direct sunlight as this can cause wood discolouration and cracks.
