The Ibu Rack is a sized-down, modernised version of the traditional Peranakan kitchen cabinet, cheekily named after the Indonesian word for “mother”. While the original, ornate version of this cabinet was once used to hold crockery and even cooked food, the makers of the Ibu Rack have given it more clean-cut lines and compacted its essence to fit in modern homes. The two doors are grilled with slender cylindrical spokes identical to those in our popular Ruji Display Rack, partially concealing the Ibu's contents. A gentle tug on the twin brass knobs releases the smooth roller-clip cabinet catch mechanism and reveals five shelves of solid teak resting behind these doors. Here's an upsize from the Mini Mission Console ; exuding a muted scent of quality teak, the Mission Desk forms a beautiful centrepiece for your home study.

Instead of conveniently utilising easy-rusting steel roller tracks in the drawers, each drawer in the Mission Desk glides in and out on wooden dovetailed slots, and is held in place with a releasable wooden catch concealed cleverly within.

Like our other teak creations, the Mission Desk is firmly held together with traditional butt joints to retain the old school charm of the furniture. On top of that, the butt joints are further reinforced with epoxy resin and nailed in for extra security.

*Our teak furniture is handmade from natural teak hardwood. This means that each piece of teak furniture has its own character and no two pieces are exactly alike; the key attribute that sets teak apart from cheap, run of the mill furniture churned out from factory lines.

Unlike some other retailers, we do not paint teak. Painting is a commonly used underhand method to cover up substandard wood or workmanship in teak furniture.

Dimensions and colours of wood stains (based on wood age) may vary slightly from piece to piece, and they may display natural imperfections like small cracks and mild warping. These aren't faults – they are details that make each piece beautifully unique.
